What a Patrol Visit Looks Like at a Retail Plaza

UEMSA Editorial TeamOctober 7, 2026

A shared patrol visit at a retail plaza is a short, documented check of the property: the officer checks in by GPS, sweeps the parking lot and exterior, checks doors and windows where the plan includes it, and files a report if anything is found. Owners and managers of plazas in Pembroke Pines and across Broward often ask what they would see for their money, so here is the visit step by step.

1. Arrival and GPS check-in

The officer arrives during the patrol block assigned to your property, such as the evening retail block or the overnight block. The visit starts with a GPS-verified check-in. That record is your proof that the visit took place.

2. Parking lot and exterior sweep

Every plan includes a vehicle patrol with visible presence and a sweep of the parking lot and exterior. The officer looks for things that are out of place: vehicles that should not be there after hours, people loitering behind the building, damage, or anything left propped open.

3. Doors and windows

On the Business plan and above, the visit includes foot patrol and a check of exterior doors and windows, with a photo log. For a plaza with several tenants, that is how an unlocked back door gets noticed before morning.

4. Enforcement and trespass checks

The Enterprise plan adds parking enforcement coordination and loitering and trespassing checks. If your plaza has a recurring problem with overnight parking or people gathering after closing, this is the level to look at.

5. The report

When the officer finds activity, an incident report is filed. On a quiet night there may be nothing to report beyond the check-in itself. The Platinum plan adds detailed nightly summary reports and a monthly property security assessment.

What to expect, and what not to

Shared patrol is route-based coverage shared with neighboring properties. It is not a guard stationed at your plaza, and specific arrival times are not guaranteed. Tenants should still call 911 in an emergency. If you need an officer on site during business hours or at closing time every night, ask about dedicated coverage.
